Google announced Google Photos today. It looks pretty good. Store unlimited photos in the cloud (albeit at reduced resolution, unless you pay), and it automatically does image recognition not just on people, but on everything in the photo, so you can do searches for things like "Snow".
I tried it out today, and so far I'm not impressed. The uploader is very, very slow. At the current rate it would take several days to upload my entire library, and it keeps failing to upload random files, but works fine when you click "Retry".
Secondly, it can't import Apple iPhoto or Photos libraries, only folders of stuff, which is a huge limitation. Almost every Mac user will keep their photos in one of these.
These basic errors point to a lack of QA, which renders what would otherwise be a great product almost unusable for many people.
